A Feathery Mystery

It's quite a mystery
Who would do such a thing?
There are signs of fowl play.
Feathers are everywhere
Fox in the chicken coop
Knocked out by the rooster.

A Cat's Enlistment Oath

 

I solemnly promise

To defend my food bowl

From every enemy

Foreign and domestic

I will obey no one

While I rule this house.

 

 

(Note: I was preparing a Veterans Day poem to post tomorrow, and I remembered the oath I took when I enlisted in the Army Reserves.  I compared the unselfishness of veterans with the selfishness of my cat.  I hope no one is offended.)

My New Pet

 

The advertisement said,

"Adopt a polar bear."

I filled the tub with ice.

I bought up lots of fish.

I missed the fine, fine print;

"Symbolically" it said.

Whoever invented

Self-serve frozen yogurt

Is simply delightful

Take as much or little

As you want in your cup

Just pay for what you eat.

Then someone has to lose
