The geese took flight
Later that night.
It was quite a sight.

Henry Ford Clerihew

The gentleman Henry Ford
Knew at once that he had scored.

Giant Goldfish

"Giant goldfish threatens Tahoe"
Read the headline in the news
What I pictured is dramatic
Read the details and I muse

Giant goldfish eighteen inches
Changing ecosystem of the lake
Isn't quite what I imagined
As I took my coffee break

Giant goldfish eight hundred inches
Taking bites out of the town
Super heroes called to "Save us."
My ideas are let down.

Ode to a Groundhog

One month ago today
You predicted early spring
And now I'm here to say
You were wrong about a thing
Or two when you did peer
From that hole in the ground
Your shadow you did see
But it is still not clear
My umbrella is still around
As rain is pouring down on me.

March Rushes in

March rushes in angry with a late winter storm
Blowing new buds and tender branches
Turning over trash cans with malice
Spring is coming but winter holds on
With a tenacious grip.
